A region in video game terminology refers to an area or location where a video game is released. Games may be region locked, preventing consoles from playing games from an incompatible region.

There are four main region assignments for video game releases, although some consoles have a more specific or complex system:

• NTSC-U/C - Americas
• NTSC-J - Japan and Asia
• NTSC-C - China
• PAL - Europe, Oceania, Middle East, India, South Africa
