Display resolution is the number of pixels that can be displayed on a viewing area, whether it be on a computer monitor or a TV screen.

Typical aspect ratio include 4:3, 16:9 and 16:10.

Common 4:3 resolutions

• 640x480
• 800x600
• 1024x768
• 1280x960 (not to be confused with 1280x1024, which is a 5:4 aspect ratio)
• 1600x1200

Common 16:9 resolutions

• 720x480 (480p/480i)
• 1280x720 (720p/720i)
• 1920x1080 (1080p/1080i)

Common 16:10 resolutions

• 1280x800
• 1440x900
• 1680x1050
• 1920x1200
• 2560x1600
