DOS, short for Disk Operating System, is a family of operating systems from different publishers that, at one point, were the primary operating systems used in personal computers and similar systems. The distinguishing feature of such operating systems is that they are usually primarily command line-driven, often lacking a GUI unless it is installed separately.
